International winter military skills competition Lapland 5-7.4.2013
The Lapland district reserves are organising the first winter military skills competition in the light infantry area of Sodankylä.
The competion will be held in wintery arctic terrain. Competitors are required to possess an all round range of military skills, wilderness and arctic survival skills. Wilderness and first aid knowledge and their association with the previously specified fields will be tested in many ways during the competion.
Movement within the field will be mainly by skis in traditional finnish style. Overnight accommodation will be in tents. Shooting skills will be tested in varying ways. Survival in the competion will require basic fighting skills, nothing more needs to be rehearsed. Competitors will use finnish military equipment but will however be required to provide their own winter clothes suitable for sometimes extreme winter conditions. Competitors will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with finnish military equipment on Friday 5th of April.
Competition
- Entries must be recieved by the end of January 2013
- 3-5 person squads
- the entry fee is 160€ per squad
- Competitors will be met in Rovaniemi on the evening of the 4th of April and will be transported together to Sodankylä.
- The return trip on the 7th of April from Sodankylä to Rovaniemi airport will also be provided.
